There is such a huge buzz around the female game at club and country level that I wanted to build upon that at grassroots, so I decided to create an All Girls Soccer Sunday
Every Sunday I coach all girl sessions:
My goal is simple FEMALE SPORTING EMPOWERMENT!

The reason why I have done this is because of my experience in the female game over the past 3 years. I have coached all girl sessions at primary school level (6-11yrs old) and football/multi sport camps (8-14yrs old).
Girls love sports, competing, being outside and even get muddy! They just don't want to be judged 24/7 in a macho environment against boys who may be more athletic.
Providing an all girls, safe space to express themselves on a football field is 100% the right way for the majority of girls to develop in the game.
Of course a small percentage of girls may want to compete against boys and they will get their chance but that will be a discussion between coach, parents and child.
Truth be told... yes it does. I dont mean to be different but my coaching style naturally adapts to an all girl audience. Generally speaking, girls are better at listening and absorbing instructions from a younger age.
They don't need to be g'eed up as much in order to produce the desired result. Girls tend to like being heard a little more as well. All children need to feel as though they are valued by adults but sometimes boys prefer a more direct approach and girls prefer to be offered a solution that they can then choose to adopt.
Of course the above is opinion based and I am more than happy to hear your viewpoint and how your child likes to learn. Most important is that as a football coach I provide a fun and engaging environment for all kids to enjoy!
My aim is to hire a female assistant coach but to be honest I have found that girls have enjoyed having me as their coach and have never feedback that they would prefer a female lead either directly to me or via their parents. Quite the opposite!
